Abstract submission
The UKNSCC is the leading forum to present ideas and evidence on practice, research, and policy in relation to smoking cessation and tobacco control. We welcome abstract submissions from the field; especially those addressing these topics:
- Alternatives to structured behavioural support (e.g. drop in sessions and rolling groups)
- GP’s activities and how to increase referrals
- Relapse prevention
- Smoking and mental health
- Smoking cessation in prisons
- Smoking cessation and young people: how to work with young people and NRT use
- Black and minority ethnic groups: accessing this group and cessation for oral tobacco use
- Home visits and smoke free homes schemes

| There is a bursery scheme that gives delegates who have their abstract selected for presentation at the conference as a workshop, paper, or poster a reduction of £55 in the delegate fee. |
|
The abstract panel will also choose a 'Best Abstract' from all submissions and award the main author a free delegate place to the UKNSCC 2009 in London
plus travel from anywhere in the UK, and two nights accommodation at the conference hotel the Novotel London West.
This bursary scheme is supported by an educational grant from Novartis Consumer Health. |
The conference offers a great opportunity to present your work to colleagues – even if you’ve never done it before.
The extended deadline for abstract submissions was Monday 21st April 2008

Delegates are invited to submit abstracts for a:
- Parallel paper presentation - a 20 minute presentation of your work followed by questions, in a chaired session with other speakers.
- Parallel workshop - a 60 minute interactive session usually involving a presentation, tasks for the audience, discussion and questions.
- Poster presentation - your poster will be displayed with others throughout the event, and the times you will be available to discuss your work with colleagues will be published in the programme.
The more flexible you can be in how you present your work, the more likely we are going to be able to accommodate it in the programme.
