Maggie Chapman

Maggie Chapman

Maggie is an experienced therapist who over the years has developed an eclectic approach to her work, employing brief solution focused strategies. With an enthusiasm, Maggie works with people to help them fulfil their true potential. It is important to inspire young people in a way that shows positive change is possible. Each of us has unlimited potential, none more so than that of the developing mind.

With degrees in Business and Psychology Maggie qualified as an accountant working in the corporate environment in the City, giving her an insight into the stresses relating to the corporate environment. She then went on to qualify as a bereavement and trauma counsellor before further developing her skills to work with adolescents. On discovering and then training in Clinical Hypnosis she joined the academic faculty of the LCCH and became one of the senior lecturers, training both nationally and internationally.
It was during her teaching at the LCCH she met Avy Joseph. She has private practices from Central and South West London. Maggie is Fellow and Treasurer of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and a Fellow of the British Association of Medical Hypnosis.

Amanda Shayle

Amanda Shayle

Amanda Shayle is a Practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Joint Head of Research and Development and lecturer for the College of Chinese Medicine, Regents College. She is also Chairman of The Acupuncture Society, representing members on, The Acupuncture Stakeholder Group working towards statutory regulation under the Health Professions Council, and The Microsystems Acupuncture Group within The Foundation of Integrated Health (FIH) voluntary regulation programme. As a Clinician in private practice she has a special interest in anti-ageing treatments, infertility and cancer prevention. (Member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network and London Acupuncture Childbirth Team – ACT London).

Amanda is committed to promoting the integration of acupuncture into the NHS and developing scientific CAM research methods. Her collaboration with award-winning Getwell UK and departments within the NHS Research Consortium resulted in a successful and groundbreaking conference in October 2007 exploring the complexity of evidence base research, commissioning of CAM services and the possibility of integrated clinical studies. In 2008 she has begun PhD studies in neuroscience solutions to cancer research.

Paul Aveyard

Paul Aveyard

Paul Aveyard is a public health physician and general practitioner. He works with others at Birmingham University on research in tobacco control, mostly in the area of smoking cessation. Their work in Birmingham includes trials of pharmaceuticals (nortriptyline and St John s wort), which are currently in the process of publication, a trial of genetic testing in treatment of tobacco addiction, and a trial of outreach workers to encourage use of the stop smoking services. He is a member of the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies.

Darcy Brown

Darcy Brown

Darcy Brown is a registered psychologist with a background in cognitive processing/optometry research to an international level. He has substantial experience of behaviour change and addictions in a variety of settings and with diverse service users. Darcy is currently the lead for two stop smoking services.
