Abstract
The presentation will focus on the current workplace sessions I am running for the East Lancs PCT in my role as specialist advisor. Since April 2007 the Stop Smoking Service in East Lancs PCT has been engaged in running workplace stop smoking sessions for individuals within the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale areas of East Lancs (some of the most deprived and diverse areas of the UK)who are employed in various types of work:- manual and professional and everywhere in between.

New innovative practices have been developed this year (2007–8) to promote new partnership working relationships with council health co-ordinators, Surestarts and other private companies. Promotional material to increase referrals and client information packs to reduce time away from work have proved to be successful in both promoting cessation, sign up of new workplaces and supporting individuals through quit attempts.

The workplace sessions have allowed access of individuals whose working patterns, family commitments or lack of motivation previously prevented them from attending community or 1-to-1 sessions with the Stop Smoking Service. It has also enabled the dissemination of health promotion information regarding Smokefree homes and other health-related topics.
