        Abstract

We would like to take UKNSCC delegates on a secret undercover mission using Operation Smoke Storm. This is an online, interactive secret-agent role play which has the power to create a lifesaving shift in young people’s attitudes towards smoking and the tobacco industry, for a lifetime without smoking. Delegates will be able to trial the first of Operation Smoke Storm’s three 50 minute sessions. They will be required to attend a fictional tobacco company’s annual recruitment day posing as job interview candidates. They will get hired after gathering sensitive company secrets and learning some of its unethical practices.

Our presentation would give UKNSCC delegates first-hand experience of the power of this interactive and engaging resource which moves its audience beyond a state of passive listening to one of enthusiastic participation.

        Proposed structure:
        1. Introduction (10 minutes)
        2. Operation Smoke Storm resource (50 minutes)
Feedback and discussion on the usage of Operation Smoke Storm across the UK and how to get schools involved (10 minutes)
        3. Summary and conclusion (5 minutes)

Operation Smoke Storm was developed by experienced Stop Smoking Service professionals from the Department of Health funding.

Source of funding: Resource development was fully funded by the Department of Health.

Declaration of interest: Operation Smoke Storm is a commercial resource that can be purchased by services.
