        Abstract

Stage two of the documentary records the journey of clients accessing a stop smoking service to help with their quit attempt.  Throughout this documentary we learn of the difficulties clients have with a provider’s rigorous process which sometimes leads to relapse and lost to follow up.
At Health Smart we have captured this journey through one to one discussions and focus groups.  The messages taken from this short story telling is clear.  ‘You want to reach to people whom you categorised ‘hard to reach’ yet why are your processes the barriers for us to trust you and engage with you’?  Hence, is this ignorance on our part as providers or do we see here a sense of fear, lack of trust and lack of understanding from the clients feedback.  Through our case studies we learn how we can better improve our process for evidence recording.

Following from this we make our clients the experts to design an intervention which they believe is the key to help people give up smoking. The true experts have designed a service which they propose to providers through our story telling documentary.  We find inspirational tag lines and ideas to improve marketing which makes smokers think of the benefits of letting go of the friend they thought was loyal, honest and truthful by focusing on the truth of betrayal.
