        Biography

        After graduating from Royal Holloway, University of London in 1995, Martyn spent the next 12 years working for the NHS Business Services Authority as a Business Analyst and Senior Service Improvement Manager. From there he moved to West Midlands Strategic Health Authority as their Performance Manager, before joining the Fresh Smoke Free North East team as Performance Improvement Delivery Manager in August 2008. Martyn`s primary focus within Fresh is working with NHS Stop Smoking Services to ensure continued delivery of excellent support to the North East population. He also currently chairs the North East Network of Tobacco Control Alliance leads on a quarterly basis

        Hilary is a Co-Director of the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre set up in May 2004 by the Health Development Agency. She was involved in the implementation of smokefree legislation in England, and took a lead role in the implementation of smokefree regulations within the mental health setting.  

        The areas of work she is currently pursuing include: Smoking in pregnancy, including ©babyClear, shisha smoking, smoking in cars and the harmful effects for children, smokefree prisons, and Smokefree NHS.

        Hilary has a background in health service research and management as well as holding professional qualifications as a Registered General Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor.  She has an Honorary Fellowship from both the School of Health and Social Care, and Honorary Lectureships from the University of Teesside and from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Coventry.
