Abstract
This session will provide an opportunity to hear about and discuss the Smokefree marketing strategy, present and future, including:

  • The thinking behind Tobacco Control Marketing and Communications Strategy 2008 – 2010
  • How the strategy has been translated into campaigns activity and the consumer insight behind recent marketing campaigns and initiatives (Quit Kit, Right tools for the Job and ‘I’d do
    anything’ campaigns)
  • What the strategy has achieved overall to date including latest campaign results
  • A look forward to new marketing strategy to support ‘A Smokefree Future’ including timings, key themes and developing ideas

There will be the opportunity to meet members of the Smokefree marketing team, to ask questions and give feedback on the strategy and campaign.

About the presenters
Caroline Fox leads the Tobacco Control Marketing team at the Department of Health (DH) and is responsible for overseeing campaign strategy and delivery. She has a wide range of marketing experience across the public, private and not for profit sectors. Previous roles include leading on consumer insight and evaluation for the Change4Life campaign, Head of Brand Management for the Department of Health and NHS brands and four years healthcare marketing experience
at Boots.

Ryan Adams works at the Department of Health and has responsibility for communications planning and audience insight for the Tobacco Control marketing campaign. He previously worked in the Planning and Insight team for the Change4Life campaign. He started his career in market research in 1997, working primarily for Central and Local Government clients. Ryan joined Sport England in 2001, in a research and communications role. In 2004, he joined the Central Office of Information as a Strategic Analyst. Ryan has a BA (Hons) Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of East London.
