        Biography

Dr Susan Kerr is a Reader in Public Health in the Institute for Applied Health Research at Glasgow Caledonian University.  Her research activity focuses on the social and behavioural determinants of health, specifically the role that tobacco plays in increasing health inequalities.  Susan is the current Chair of the Scottish Tobacco Control Alliance Research Group.  She is also a member of the Research and Evaluation Sub-group of the Ministerial Working Group on Tobacco Control.

After several years in teaching then direct marketing, Denise Meldrum completed a course in mental health nursing at Napier University in 1997.  Her subsequent work experience includes a mix of learning disability and mental health nursing in community, acute and secure care settings.  In 2006 she took up a post in which she developed a cessation support service for mental health in-patient settings in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.  She is currently helping to address the cessation needs of community mental health services and she is also involved in conducting service development pilot projects.
