Biography
Dr Megan Passey is currently Deputy Director – Research, at the University of Sydney’s, University Centre for Rural Health (North Coast) in Australia. She worked closely with local midwives, health workers and Aboriginal women from the community, to undertake research on smoking and cessation among pregnant Aboriginal women. Based on this research, the group has developed a smoking cessation program based on best-evidence and adapted to the social and cultural context of smoking in Aboriginal communities. She also undertakes research on improving implementation of antenatal smoking cessation guidelines, and on reducing children’s exposure to secondhand smoke at home.
