        Biography

        Linda Bauld is Professor of Health Policy and Director of the Institute for Social Marketing at the University of Stirling. She is also a Deputy Director of the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies, a UKCRC Centre for Public Health Excellence covering 13 Universities. She has a background in applied policy research and for the past 16 years her research interests have centred on evaluation of public health interventions. She has conducted studies on drug and alcohol use, inequalities in health and, most notably, on smoking cessation and tobacco control. Linda chairs Cancer Research UK’s Tobacco Advisory Group and is a member of a number of other public health advisory and funding committees.

        Dr Kathleen Boyd is a Research Fellow in the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) unit at the University of Glasgow. Kathleen works on numerous research projects undertaking economic evaluations within a variety of health care areas such as smoking cessation interventions, oncology, and child health. Her research interests are in the areas of early-stage decision analytic modelling, and in designing and undertaking economic evaluations alongside clinical trials. Since joining University of Glasgow in 2007 Kathleen has undertaken economic analyses for numerous smoking cessation studies.
