Dr Bridgette Bewick Associate Professor, School of Medicine, University of Leeds
Biography
Dr Bridgette Bewick, Associate Professor at University of Leeds (UK) School of Medicine, is an active researcher in the field of addiction and a world expert on the use of the Social Norms Approach. Her significant contribution to the field was recognised by her being awarded the 2012 Society for the Study of Addiction Fred Yates Prize. She celebrated as a University of Leeds 2013 Women of Achievement. Her track record of high quality publications has aided our understanding of how to incorporate personalised feedback and social norms messages into web-based interventions. She seeks to understand how personalised feedback interventions can help intervene early and support positive behaviour change. Bridgette continues to develop ways for e-health solutions to support dissemination of tools that enable individuals to consider their own behaviour and to think through their potential to change.
Bridgette is committed to high quality applied health research and is Joint-led for the Taught Postgraduate Programmes in Health Research; a programme that provides training in applied health research skills to NHS clinical health professionals and other professionals allied to medicine. The Health Research programme forms a major part of the new MSc programme – Clinical Research Methods – funded to £1.8M by NIHR for the research training of nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.
