        Biography

Gianpiero Calabrese - I completed my MSc in Organic Chemistry at Universita' degli Studi di Salerno (2003). In 2004, I joined the Biomaterials and Drug Delivery Group at University of Portsmouth to undertake my PhD. In 2008, I joined Kingston University London where I currently am Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics and Admission Tutor for Pharmacy. My research interests are: mitochondrial targeting in cancer, synthesis of boronated compounds and use of drug delivery systems (such as liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes) for the treatment of brain cancers. I am also interested in ophthalmic drug delivery by means of hydrogels and nanoparticulate systems.
