        Biography

I have designed and led research studies in the UK and several other countries including, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Cuba, Nepal, Pakistan, and Peru. I have secured research income of approximately £2.5 million as principal investigator and another £9 million as co-investigator so far through competitive grants from National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Department for International Development (DfID) and International Centre for Research and Development, Canada (IDRC), which includes funding for three major trials. My research has so far led to 54 scientific publications, 27 as first author, in peer-reviewed journals, two book chapters, policy documents, and guidelines for organisations, including NICE and WHO.
